Devils_Forge

I understand there is a lot here, if you get the chance please read the entire profile. Otherwise just check out the first paragraph and then skip to the rules at the bottom. Thank you and I hope you enjoy the RP in the room.

The Devil's Forge

Located far off the beaten path lies a building. This building is simple, yet nothing more is around it aside from flat lands of grass. Weapons and armor can be seen through the display windows, and sometimes the sign reads Open. A weapon shop, and more. Once inside the heat of a forge wafts through the air, though it can not be seen directly. Shelves help lay out the shop and hold smaller items. Weapons, sections of armor, trinkets for combat & utility. Everything within the shop seems to shimmer with an odd glint of rarity. Enchanted blades, magical talismans, and more.

Shop Room

30ft x 40ft

A simple room that holds the inventory of the shop.

The Forge

30ft x 20ft

Holds the anvil, the fireplace, tools, and some materials. Along with some unfinished projects. The fireplace sits centered at the back of the room against the outside wall. It's chimney visible from the backside of the building. Also centered, and only a few feet away from the fireplace sits the massive anvil Janus uses. The anvil stands three feet tall, five feet long, and two feet wide at it's widest. The anvil is shaped in an odd cross like shape with inward curved edges rather than 90 degree turns to shape the cross sections. [ Any one with high enough magical / spiritual senses would know this anvil is far beyond a simple item. ] The anvil is formed of a meteoric adamantine, and is known as the TrueForge. Commonly the TrueForge appears and vanishes according to an unknowable whim - perhaps those of a greater power, perhaps its own. However through means of custom enchantments and particular binding spells; a way to anchor the TrueForge to a single location has been established. It is this legendary magical item that is the cornerstone of his work, and allows him to not only craft such wondrous items, but also craft them in such remarkable and truly unbelievable speeds.

Upstairs

Three bedrooms and one master bedroom. Each bedroom holds a small bathroom, save of course for the master bathroom/bedroom.

Basement

The basement is protected by a very simple, but deadly trap. The door looks like a mirror, and when one faces it they are met with a reflection. However if they don't know how to properly turn the knob, they open the doorway into the mirror's pocket realm rather than the door to the basement. Once inside, a person will become trapped until released or they break out. The basement holds the raw materials main inventory, and the more...dangerous items Janus keeps on hand.

The Barrier System

Engraved into every board, nail, glass pane, door, hinge, knob, and brick of the building is layers upon layers of barriers. Each barrier from every board overlaying to create a massive multilayer and moving barrier. If someone attempts to manifest within the shop, and they do not have permission to do such, they will hit this wall and be placed outside of the shop, about ten or so feet away from the front door. As for the reverse, if someone attempts to poof out from within the shop without permission, they will find themselves unable to do such. This system is constantly active.

Grades of Quality

Every item that was crafted within the Black Hammer is given a mark and a grade. Each mark corresponds with a certain grade, allowing one to quickly judge the base strength and quality of an item. This base judgment is obviously of the item alone, not of how well the owner of the item can deploy it in combat. It should be noted that the level of skill Janus has gained as a blacksmith allows the lowest grade he is able to produce already on equal grounds with masterwork items. The quality of the metal, type of metal, along with added items and magical enchantments is what separates each tier. Not the level of quality.

One Star: This is the lowest grade. These items are commonly made from metals that are plain in function and/or lack any magical or alchemic additions. The items are marked with a simple single “ P “.

Two Star: Second grade out of five. These items are made from metals that are common or rare, and have low level magical or alchemic additions. The items are marked with a “ S “.

Three Star: Third of five. These items are made from rare metals and have medium grade magical or alchemic additions. The items may also be advanced in a technological level and / or function.

Four Star: Fourth of five. These items are made from rare metals only and have high level grade magical or alchemic additions. The items are almost always of advanced technological levels and / or functions.

Five Star: The highest level of skill that can come from the smiths of the Black Hammer. These items are made from the highest quality of rare metals and have multiple high level grade magical and alchemic additions. The items are of advanced technological levels and functions.

Rare Materials

Aurumium

A trans-planar metal. At first glance, it can be confused with gold. Having the same sparkle to it as gold, however if it is found on the plane of Lyrle then it is definitely not gold. By whatever strange phenomenon, gold and silver can not be found inside the treasure box that is within the dirt and rock of Lyrle. Aurunium is very hard to find, as there are different levels of purity and energetical content. (Energetical Content refers to the fact that Aurunium is known to form along the leylines of the planes.) It's purity is based on how much of a certain chunk of aurumium is actually aurumium. Once any metal begins to form around aurumium, say nickle, it is permanently altered to a much lower quality. The most common type of aurumium is one with a 25% iron content. The purity of the metal is the base upon its unique ability to soak up energy from the many leylines that run through this ,and other, planes. The more pure the metal, the more it can hold. The incredible durability of the metal and its ability to soak up such energy causes it to be in high demand for the Order. Using it to create the engineering parts for their trans-planar vessels.

Argentium

Rare throughout the multiverse but found in abundance on the plane of Lyrle. It's most notable aesthetic feature is its shimmering, pearlescent chrome color that is has even before refining. Unlike most precious metals which are found in veins throughout mines, argentium grows en masse in wider, open areas underground in large crystal like formations. This makes mining the metal very easy, but refinement is rather difficult. Once mined, argentium is sent to a refinery where it is melted down and sifted through in order to purify it. It should be noted that unlike many metals, argentium is much more durable in its natural form than it is after it has been refined, forged, and shaped. The necessary heat to melt argentium in its natural state can only be provided through magical means, as natural fire of any kind is far too low to do it properly. (This means that even to be mined a pyromancer must be present to cut the crystal formation from the rock.) Once melted, argentium behaves much like steel. It is most often used to make armor and weaponry for the Order, as its abundance and incredible durability is very useful to the Sworn and the soldiers. The brilliant, silvery shine is attractive when used as ceremonial armor, garb, medals and jewelry. The downside of this metal is its odd property of <Density+Size+Mass> is not proportionate to its <Weight>. Meaning, that one can have a longsword, and a great sword of this metal. And though it will be a difference in weight, the difference is much larger due to the metal's odd properties.

Umbrite

Umbrite is a dark, dense metal of surprising hardness. While umbrite is no match for the hardness of mithral or adamantite, it is stronger than steel and easily among the most durable metals known. Beyond its capable performance as a metal, umbrite is remarkable for its light-absorbing qualities. Umbrite seemingly absorbs light at a slow rate, causing shadows around it to deepen considerably. In fact, veins of umbrite are often located by noting areas incurring a sudden loss of light. Strangely, umbrite is a relatively new discovery, having first been written about within the last 200 years. When the first reports of this material were made, they were dismissed as hallucinations produced by the subterranean gases. This may be one reason umbrite has remained unknown for so long. Umbrite is only found during mining operations for other ores or rare gems, and even more curiously, only in the deepest and darkest locales where few civilized folk venture. One drow archmage has theorized that umbrite may well be a new material. Its appearance and location may be linked with the little-known fact that it only appears near large concentrations of the strange radiations that are said to power many of the enchantments of the drow. Other learned folk have speculated that umbrite might be seepage from the plane of shadow. Many agree with this theory, since umbrite is only found in places of deepest darkness. Miners have long maintained that umbrite is an unlucky material and bodes ill. Stories abound of miners disappearing frequently after a vein of umbrite has been uncovered. Miners have considered it a nuisance material for decades, since until recently it was impossible to forge umbrite into any useful product.

Black Mithril

Black Mithril is a very rare black form of the glistening metal Mithril that is even lighter and harder than Mithril. Only found in the depths of Moria, it is called "The Rogue's Metal" by some. When worked like steel, it becomes a wonderful material from which to create armor and is occasionally used for other items as well. Weapons crafted from this material hold an edge that is forever sharp, and resistant to rust as well as acids. The material is strongly resilient to magic and energy, withstanding an extremely high level of pressure brought on by physical or other than physical means.

Caranril

Rare in both its availability and color this red metal can absorb energy. Be it spirit energy, soul force, or magic. If struck, it will even suck the kinetic energy from the object striking it. The amount of energy it can hold is directly related to its finished quality products. [Quality = Density + Durability + malleability] If the energy is not released before the metal reaches critical levels of storage, it will explode. The finished color for Caranril is directly related to it’s quality. Low-quality Caranril is simple red-looking steel. Medium grades will have a few sparkles of red crystal within the metal. High to rare quality will have hundreds if not thousands of bright red sparkles within the usual red metal. In order to release the energy stored within the metal a catalyst must be installed on any item made of this mineral.

Calebheleg

(Silver Ice) An extremely rare alloy of two rare metals melded together. Melded by both master handy work within in a forge, and the weaving of alchemy within its particles. The alloy is formed by the combination of mithril and adamantium. The process requires the mithril to be added to the adamantium when it is still in its initial melted phase, before it has ever cooled. Once finished the metal has none of the physical qualities one would expect it to have. The metal is only slighter lighter than steel and holds the same physical strength of steel. However, the true power lies within the individual molecules. Through the bonding and the added help of alchemy the two metals’ molecular structure completely transcends to a never before seen level. Each molecule holds its own magical shell that is impermeable to all forces. From simple metal against metal impact, to even the most advanced level of magical talents the shell is utterly indestructible. One may attempt to dispel a singular shell; however thousands upon thousands of shells exist within even the simplest of daggers. Each shell overlapping one another and not only strengthening the shell over the entire weapon, but also constantly replenishing shells that may have been damaged.

Astral Drift Metal

This extraordinarily rare mineral is similar to iron but has a single remarkable feature. Armor crafted from astral drift metal is fully effective against incorporeal attacks, as if it were made of force. Astral drift metal is not malleable enough to be worked into chain-mail or scale mail; only a breastplate, shield, or any form of heavy armor can be made from it. Items of drift metal armor weigh the same as items made of steel.

Aurilymthriond

An alloy made from the combination of Aurumium and Aggregated Diamond Nanorods. The mixture between these two metals has created a very strong glittering gold alloy. Once worked and pressed into a finished metal shape the alloy looks just like freshly polished gold with thousands of brighter gold specks within it. The alloy is extremely strong, resilient to heat and cold, as well as the ability to absorb, retain, channel and expel massive amounts of energy. Though it is not limited to energy, it can be used with any type of non-physical force. Magic, Arcane, Soul Force, etc. To complete the trinity of the alloy a final metal was added into the forging process during the hottest points of the process, Black Mithril. It is this metal that completes the simple process, and brings the blade full circle. Black Mithril is not only resistant to rust as well ad acids, however weapons crafted from it hold and edge that is forever sharp. Also it is very resilient to magic and energy, withstanding an extremely high level of pressure brought on by physical or other than physical means.

Synthesis
The following is a list of items that may be added to a piece of equipment. Take caution, while Janus is skilled at his Craft there is some things he simply can not do because it would create a very unstable product.

Blaze Crystal
[ Elemental crystal that infuses an item with fire magic. ]

Frost Crystal
[ Elemental crystal that infuses an item with ice magic. ]

Thunder Crystal
[ Elemental crystal that infuses an item with thunder magic. ]

Bright Crystal
[ Elemental crystal that infuses an item with holy magic. ]

Shade Crystal
[ Elemental crystal that infuses an item with shadow magic. ]

Gust Crystal
[ Elemental crystal that infuses an item with wind magic. ]

Moon Crystal
[ Potent magical crystal that aids in intensifying all magical effects. ]

Dense Crystal
[ Potent crystal that aids in fortifying items, protecting them from rust, damage, and helping maintain a sharp edge on bladed items ]

Twilight Crystal
An extremely rare, potent crystal that acts as a conductor for all types of metaphysical energy. {Magic, Energy, Spirit, Etc}

Ankharite Shard(s)
This rare metal is harvested in small shards from points in the realm that have experienced very strange, isolated time anomalies. Adding this metal to an item causes the item to become locked in time upon completion. This allows a weapon to be protected from rust, damage, wear & tear. It is also treated as if the impervious enchantment has been placed upon it.

Starmetal
Starmetal has a special property that re-weaves fate. This property also guides Starmetal weapons to strike especially lethal blows, even to immortal creatures, while Starmetal armor can turn aside all but the mightiest of attacks. It is widely rumored that Starmetal is the material form of the husk of a fallen/slain god. Each god having their own star that shines brightly in the night sky over Creation. When the god dies, its star falls to Creation as Starmetal.

The Black Market....

….isn't just for weapons anymore. Need some information, looking to snatch up a cursed item, or trying to find that last piece to your ultimate armor set. Bring a good price and you might find what you need. Of course, you could always strike a deal.

No cash, gold, silver, coin, or currency of any kind accepted.
Exceptions to this is weapon repair / gear maintenance

Better bring something uncommon or rare if you plan to trade for an item or have a custom order crafted.
