Bellerose

Gender: Female

Mademoiselle Justine Bellerose
The Lady of Bones or Dame d'Os
Rider of Ionlda, Goddess of Bones

Position: Ivy Tower's Magical Item Crafting Teacher
Blood: Vayler
Age: 160

She is much older than she looks, and she has only lost one of her seven lives. Death had changed her appearance to a more vibrant one, from dark hair and eyes to impossibly red and green-silver eyes. She has kept this visage for the last eight decades. As for what took her first life, well, she failed her own test. Intentionally. She wanted to know what death was like and curiosity can be a dangerous thing.

Justine was the only daughter of an esteemed psychiatrist who performed most of his experiments on his own child. This motivated her to do the same – to herself and to others. While Justine is quite brilliant, those who know her are aware that she is inclined towards darker magic and studies. She began her career as a student at the Red Tower as an Engineer turned Scholar. Following her first death within the Chamber, she accepted a position to teach at Fallen and there she remained for years before she was transferred to South America to the Black Tower where she remained until she received a request to come to Ivy Tower from a very old colleague.

Mademoiselle Bellerose’s basic tests she gives her students are non-lethal enough though she does have one that was designed when she was a student herself. Most fail their first attempt and when they do, she helps them recover their memories, their personalities and will take an active hand in their regrowth. She feels enough responsibility to provide that small comfort, it’s the least she can do. Surprisingly to many, she has a strong maternal instinct when need be.

Regardless, she believes that a true test of any Rider’s abilities is a situation that will force them to use their intellect, combat (both when to fight and not to fight) and magic in a very real, very dangerous place. That is what the Psyche’s Chamber is all about. It’s a small pocket dimension with multiple layers which is created by the challenger’s own mind. Their strengths, their weaknesses, their fears, their motives, their memories, their nightmares all creates a test or a ‘game’. It is voluntary, of course, and only open to those with Vayler-blood, full Vayler preferred and 25+.

"And so it comes to an end. Now that you have seen what you truly are, you are able to go on and face eternity without fear - without doubt."

The skull she carries has yet to be identified though it’s always with her, carried in a hand or on her desk and while she is quite knowledgeable about Necromancy, she does not practice it often herself. There are better ways, more practical ways to create and bind creatures to your will. As such, she can inscribe spells themselves onto bones for a varied array of effects and most of her accessories – cosmetic and functional – are made of bone or teeth. Everything from buttons on her dark dresses – and she does prefer the vintage approach – to her writing instruments are composed of bone. She can see ghosts but only hear whispers from skulls.

It’s not the only thing related to bones that she has near her. Her Muto, Memento, usually appears as a small kitten. Sometimes black and fluffy with bright green eyes. Other times, it chooses to represent itself as a living skeletal kitten instead - small, white and flesh-less. When engaging in combat, the cat-like Muto grows to resemble more of a flesh-less Saber-Tooth on an even larger scale.

(+) Yes, she is partially based on Amnesia's Justine and that is where the quote is from. The Lady of Bones is represented by Alleykatze (Alexandra Stein). If you don’t like seeing breasts, I’d suggest a safe Google search. I am not going to be held responsible for inflicting boobies on the unknowing. (+)
