Because you can use /ignore, dude. And it's hard to have any more than a one-on-one conversation in whispers.

Then go to the Mainhall or the OOC-Lobby.

"Until further notice" Guys. But yes, we do not need another IC/OOC room.

For the record, labeling the arena an IC/OOC room seems to have made OOCers feel entitled to OOC even during RP. Ya'll should take down that label. Before, OOC generally died down when people were trying to RP. Or, at least, OOC died down a lot more than it seems to be doing now.

Also, for the record, I'm not labeling the Arena as anything - I'm classifying it as I see it. There are two OOC rooms, yes. There are also IC rooms. On the other hand, the Arena has enough of a ratio of IC:OOC that it's most accurate to call it IC/OOC, because it's realllllllly not predominantly one or the other.
And besides. The Arena peoples brought this upon themselves - so really? The people who enjoyed OOCing so often now have exactly what they want - an environment in which they can OOC all they want. It's a win-win, isn't it? You can have your room to OOC in, and anyone that doesn't like it shifts to another room to go IC/doesn't go to the Arena, or uses /ignore.
Only way this breaks down is if people from the Arena decide they want to leave that room and go to another room - and continue to OOC. Do they?

I still think a mod isn't necessary.
10:46:47 >[Kade] >> Welcome to the Arena. Until further notice, the Arena is now an IC/OOC room. <--- But that greet message exacerbates the 'problem'.
Are you guys trying to justify the necessity of a mod by deliberately making the problem worse than it really is?
This is like... people arguing over lunch. One side wants sandwiches, the other wants burritos. The burrito side gave up, so they serve up a bunch of wheat-and-mayo sandwiches. Now neither side is happy.
I probably used a food metaphor because I'm hungry irl. <_<

As the 'mod' part of the thread title is no longer the main contention point, I opened a new thread!
