HEY WHAT'S GOING ON IN THIS THRE-

HOLY JEEZUS WHAT IS THAT?

That is the boxart for Clock Tower, the game I'm going to play.

Erh, 'k. What's it about?

Clock Tower is about European women running away from a psychotic green midget with a large pair of scissors.

No, seriously. What's Clock Tower? I've never even heard of it.

Not surprising. Clock Tower wasn't advertised much (if any), and the company who produced the series (up to Clock Tower 2, The Struggle Within) is now bankrupt and gone forever.

The original Clock Tower was released only in Japan for the Super Famicom.  I imagine this had something to do with graphic murder of young women, which, while Nintendo Japan had no problems with it, Nintendo North America would have shat bricks.

Clock Tower was later released on the Playstation as 'Clock Tower: The First Fear."

This Clock Tower is actually the sequel to First Fear.

I think I saw Clock Tower 3. Didn't Capcom do that?

Yes. Capcom, for reasons unknown, purchased the Clock Tower property, and made a fourth Clock Tower game, for the Playstation 2. It's. . . unique.

What does Clock Tower play like?

It's a point and click 'Adventure/Survival Horror' game. The interface is very simple. You have a mouse cursor. Point it at things. Press a button. That's about it.

It is an ok game, with one (for its time) relatively unique feature: The evil green midget Scissorman.

He will, once it gets past the Prologue, appear at random (and some scripted events) and will, if you do not run away kill you.

You do not get a gun. You do not get a board with nails in it. You do not get a chainsaw.

You do not fight the Scissorman. You run away and hide like the little girl you are.

Little girl?

I exaggerate a bit here - you can play as either an adult woman (Heather) or a. . . I believe she's 14 year old girl, Jennifer.

Needless to say, neither of these women are physically able to overpower the evil green midget Scissorman, so they must run, hide, or, if they're lucky and clever, use enviromental objects to get him to go away/stun him.

Screenshots of a point and click game? That sounds kind of boring. . .

WELL YOU'RE RIGHT. It *is* kind of boring. That's why this will be a Video Let's Play.

Oh. Are you going to talk all over the game?

Nope, I'm going to be doing this sans-voice, with only subtitles.

So, wait, did the killer re-arrange that whole room to disguise the security guard on a coat hook?

One of these days, I need to run an Over the Edge game that just steal from that whole plot arc of Doom Patrol. Or well, any plot arc from that era of Doom Patrol

So we're going from Shadowrun and Clock Tower to complete drek, good to know.

I might LP a game. It will be old, so no one will read the thread.

I'd be interested in seeing what you'd choose for a LP, Lugh.

3 posts for 'I'll choose one'.

One of those 3 is for Tales of Phantasia.

What are the other 2?

If so, they'll have to speak up.

Otherwise, Legend of Mana is winning.
